3,2,1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Or should it be Happy NEW Resolutions that I hope I stick to?
Every year millions of people around the world create goals they hope to achieve for the new year. Here are the top 10 common new year resolutions and how you can stick to it!
1. Lose Weight
eg. ' My new year's resolution is to lose weight'
How YOU can make it happen:
- Break it down into small steps, eg each month I want to lose 1 kg
- Create a meal plan per week, eg go grocery shopping every Saturday Night and meal prep for the next week
- Create fitness plans per week, eg go for walks every Friday and Sunday morning
- Track your progress on a fortnightly, at least monthly basis, seeing the tracking will help motivate you!
2. Exercise More
eg. 'My new year's resolution is to exercise more'
How YOU can make it happen:
- Break it down into smaller goals, eg I will exercise 3 days a week for 30 minutes being Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Morning/Evening
- Grab a friend to keep you both accountable, it is best to grab a gym buddy who is just as motivated for this goal, if you get someone who is half hearted, chances are you will both fall in the rabbit hole!
- Track your progress on a weekly basis, seeing the tracking will help motivate you, eg track the speed/strength each week.
3. Find my soul mate
eg. 'My new year's resolution is to find a boyfriend/ find a girlfriend/ find love'
How YOU can make it happen:
- Write down a list of what your strengths and weaknesses are. Write a list of what you want in a partner. Check to see if your strengths and weaknesses are compatible with what you want in a partner. eg. my strength is that I'm headstrong and I know what I want when I want it. What I want in a partner is they have a successful business. These two are most likely not compatible because it means they are also probably, most likely, headstrong. Two headstrong people may cause lots of friction in the relationship.
- Create an online profile to show what you really are like eg if you are looking for a serious relationship, avoid putting photos that are too sexy ( this will attract the one night standers)
- Get on dating apps/ get friend introductions etc and schedule dates per week. eg I will go on one date per week
- Track your progress on a weekly basis, write down what you learnt about yourself and rate each date.
- Be yourself and have fun, the right person will come along when they realise how awesome you are!

- Put a dollar amount on your goal, eg. my new years resolution is to save $10,000 this year. Then break it down into months - eg I will save $835 per month ( which means if being paid fortnightly saving $417 per pay and $208 per week)
- Create a budget and make sure you are able to stick to it comfortably. Try and not put a strain on your lifestyle or it will be very tempting to break the budget. eg if you are used to spending $500 per week and your budget now requires you to spend $300 per week that will cause a strain and let you feel restricted and cause you to break the budget. MAKE IT REALISTIC!
- If wanting to splurge, sleep on it for a few days, you may find it was only a spur of the moment temptation.
